Trumpet flowers hold a special place in the hearts of many gardeners, as they leave an impression on all that see them. The ‘Marshmallow’ series of Lavatera will not disappoint, with brilliant and colourful blooms.
Also known as Tree Mallows, these compact and well-branched perennials burst to life for weeks through summer, and well into autumn.
Flowering shrubs, such as these, will treat your garden to repeat performances of flowers for years to come, with silky petals – go on and give them a feel!
Do not fret when leaves drop across the winter as the plants fall dormant, as new growth will emerge in the following March. Lavatera are hardy and easy to grow, forming good-sized shrubs with the headline trumpet flowers.
What’s more, the blooms are particularly rich in nectar, so are attractive to pollinators, while the long and strong stems that hold each flower are perfect for cutting for a vase. Plant throughout the sunny beds and borders of your garden, including in patio pots or containers.
Supplied as three established plants in 9cm pots, ready for planting. Including one each of the following:
Mallow can be slow to break bud in spring so be patient with plants that might appear to have died over winter as they may still be dormant.
