Japanese anemones are wonderful late-summer flowering perennials that erupt into spectacular colour from August until October, instantly refreshing your garden at a time when many of the summer flowers are past their best.
Their beautiful blooms grow to 6 cm across and are carried on long, slender stems high above deeply cut, vine-like foliage. They’re naturally branching and will quickly form large plants with an abundance of flowers. Preferring to grow in partial shade, they are spectacular in woodland style gardens or in shady borders. The flowers are adored by bees and butterflies and the RHS recommends Japanese anemones as ‘Plants for Pollinators’, and they are excellent cut flowers.
We’ve brought together three superb varieties that will look breathtaking when planted together, their colours complimenting each other to perfection, or plant them throughout your garden to give it a gorgeous late summer boost.
