They�re not known to be toxic to dogs. Most pets ignore them anyway, thanks to the dense, upright foliage. If a dog is particularly prone to chewing plants, it�s always worth keeping an eye out, but these trees don�t pose a specific risk.

Yes, they grow very well in pots, especially while young. Choose a large, heavy container and use a good quality compost with plenty of drainage. Water consistently through summer and feed during the growing season to keep them looking sharp.

They certainly can. They�re hardy enough for most of the UK and tolerate cold winters remarkably well. The key is a sunny, sheltered position, which helps them stay upright and maintain their elegant, columnar form.

A warm, sunny spot is ideal. They love free-draining soil and do best against a south or west-facing wall, or lining a pathway or driveway. Good light and airflow help them keep their tight, pencil-straight silhouette.

It�s best not to. Removing the top breaks the natural shape and the tree won�t re-form its classic narrow point. If you need to limit height, light annual trimming along the sides is a better way to keep them neat without spoiling their form.
