Description

When Patio Colour Starts To Fade, This Compact Evergreen Shrub Keeps That Summer Feeling Going For Weeks Longer!

Hebe Addenda 'Wild Blue' boasts decorative pointed foliage, a neat shape, serious flower power and valuable late-season nectar.

This evergreen perennial is good-looking, even before the flowers through summer, and even into autumn, before coming back to flower again the following year.

The variegated, pointed leaves bring a patterned look to pots and borders all year. Then the blue hebe blooms arrive in real abundance. Compared with other variegated hebes, 'Wild Blue' produces bigger, more generous flowers, for up to 150 days!

A truly superb choice for patio containers, smaller borders, courtyard gardens and mixed planting schemes. Bees and butterflies love the nectar-rich flowers too, so it keeps your garden busy with life when many summer displays begin to slow down.

Grow in sun or partial shade, in fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly in dry spells, especially in pots. In severe frost, move containers to a sheltered spot or provide winter protection.

Supplied as an established plant in a 17cm pot, ready to plant.

Care Information

Planting Advice

  • Dig a planting hole three times wider than the roots of the shrub you're planting and mix some well-rotted compost or manure with the soil from the hole and use this to re-fill once the shrub is in place.
  • We've found that a square hole is better than a round one as the new roots, once they reach the edges tend to grow in a circle round the circumference of the hole whereas when they reach the corners of a square hole, they find it easier to grow through.
  • Before planting soak container-grown shrubs thoroughly and allow to drain.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help plants establish quicker.
  • Place your shrub in the hole at the same level at the pot then refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball then water well.
  • Mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.
  • If you’re planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.
  • Use the best compost you can buy and some sand or grit for drainage.

Pruning Advice:

  • Prune immediately after flowering for a second flush of flowers later in the season.
  • Remove damaged or crowded stems.
  • Renovate plants by cutting back by half in spring.
  • After pruning, apply a generous layer of well-rotted compost to the base of the plant.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
