Product Information

Not to be confused with the indoor, potted Cyclamens produced in their masses for Christmas, these superb wild Cyclamen are a stunning garden plant for slowly naturalising in shady spots under trees and hedges, providing subtle autumn colour and long-term foliage interest.

Dormant through the summer, their distinctive nodding flowers are produced in profusion in autumn and once established the flowers appear straight from the ground before any leaves form. As the flowers die back in winter, the striking, silver-marked, deep green leaves appear, and last until the heat of the following summer.

Attractive in their own right, the heart-shaped leaves which are patterned with whorls of splashes and random leaf markings, make a delightful ground cover.

C.Hederifolium is the easiest of the hardy cyclamens to grow and the one that professional growers recommend for those of us who have not grown cyclamen before.

Cyclamen will self-seed freely and will slowly spread out into small drifts and naturalise to form a delicate carpet of totally hardy, no maintenance, almost bullet-proof plants. What could be easier? Perfect for that awkward shady space, whatever size of garden you have.

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as an extra-large corm, 1 x 25/30 - not a small bulb that need years of growth before flowering. Flower colour varies from white to dark pink and cannot be guaranteed.

Care Information

Planting advice for Cyclamen Hederifolium:

  • Choose a sheltered location with at least some shade during the day.
  • Heavy soil should be opened up with horticultural grit or sharp sand as cyclamen need good drainage.
  • Plant so that the top of the corm is around 1cm (½in) deep with the smooth side downwards.

Aftercare Advice for cyclamen:

  • Keep plants well-watered.
  • Corms are dormant from spring to early summer, so don't worry that they are dead - growth will commence again in the autumn.
  • Leave the curly seed pods in place.
