Product Information

A flowering almond tree that has it all! Late summer brings excellent crops of sweet-tasting nuts, which follow a flurry of springtime blossom.

‘Robijn’ are not grown solely for the mouth-watering edible produce, but also the eye-catching ornamental design of the tree, bringing something fresh, unique, and long-lasting to your garden.

At the height of spring, light pink blossom emerges across the tree, which is spreading in nature and boasts an excellent resistance to common issues, such as peach leaf curl. The flowers are aromatic and appealing to pollinators.

Delivered to you as a bare root, grafted onto a peach rootstock and ready for planting, your new almond tree should start cropping after just two years of growth, with the best yields coming from the third year, and onwards.

The almonds produced not only release a distinguishable earthy and nutty flavour but are incredibly good for you – rich in healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins and more!

This is a self-fertile tree, therefore does not need to be housed near other varieties to produce almonds, although pollination will be improved by planting multiple alongside one-another.

Supplied as a bare root almond tree, on a semi-dwarfing rootstock.

Top Tips

  • Keep well-watered, and if growing in a pot, use a good quality, soil-based compost.
  • Care Information

    • On receipt, soak the roots in water for at least two hours, overnight is better. If you can't plant straight away, they should be fine for up to a week if left in a cool, dark, frost-free place - keep the bag around the roots with some water inside.
    • Dig a hole twice the width of the roots, forking over the bottom to loosen the soil, and add some good quality fertiliser such as Blood Fish & Bone - be sure to wash your hands afterwards!
    • Aim to plant at the same depth as the soil mark on the trunk.
    • Holding the tree or plant upright in position with one hand, slowly backfill the hole with soil, and gently shake the plant, so the soil falls back around the roots.
    • Use your heel to compact the soil around the plant to ensure good contact around the roots.
If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.
    • No special pruning is required, but If side branches form, remove them in winter.
