Description

A Summery-Looking Climber In The Depths Of Winter! Give That Sheltered Wall A Lush Green Covering With Delicate, Waxy Flowers When You Least Expect Them.

There is something so special about fresh flowers on a cold winter's day. Clematis 'Winter Beauty' delivers this, with creamy-white, bell-shaped blooms hanging among lush, dark green leaves. The petals have a lovely waxy finish with softly flared tips.

Even when summer feels a long way off, this evergreen climber looks green and full of life. Let it work its way up an obelisk, climbing frame or a network of wires, giving the stems support as they grow.

Position it where the fragrant flowers can be appreciated up close. A sunny, sheltered wall is ideal, offering protection as well as a backdrop for the winter display.

Give it freely draining soil and allow up to 4m in height as it matures. There is no complicated pruning routine to master, just a light tidy after flowering if needed.

'Winter Beauty' is happiest outdoors in milder UK gardens. In colder locations, provide winter protection or grow it in a container that can be moved into a greenhouse or conservatory.

Important: Skin irritant. Wear gloves when handling. Harmful to pets if eaten.

Top Tips
  • Plant with the crown of the plant 5-8cm deep to encourage new shoots to grow from below ground level. Clematis like a cool ‘root run’ so try and plant so that the roots are shaded. If you are planting in a sunny position, place some pieces of slate or flat stones on the soil after planting or use groundcover plants to keep the roots cool.
Care Information
  • Feed in spring with a general-purpose feed, avoiding the stems. Mulch immediately afterwards with organic matter such as well-rotted manure, leafmould or garden compost.
  • Water regularly during periods of dry weather in the first few seasons after planting, especially for container plants.
  • Clematis in pots should be given a liquid feed through the summer and early autumn.
  • ‘Winter Beauty’ flowers on the previous season’s growth and although no routine pruning is required, any pruning should be carried out in spring or summer after flowering has finished, so that it can grow new shoots that will carry next season’s flowers.
  • We recommend cutting your clematis back to 30 cm (1 ft) the first spring after planting to encourage multiple stems which can then be tied it to create the framework for future growth.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when it's due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
