Description

Breathtaking! Huge powdery blue blooms, up to five inches across, with layer upon layer of ruffled petals - all summer long!

From mid summer into early autumn, you will see large, multi-layered double flowers with a neat swirl at the centre, held proudly against fresh green foliage. Exotic, special, yet fully hardy and surprisingly weather resistant.

‘Blue Chiffon’ is an RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, and has been tested and proven for reliability, performance and garden worthiness.

At maturity it reaches around 2.5 metres tall with a spread of 1.5 metres, creating a bold flowering shrub that brings height and structure to borders, or real impact in a large patio pot.

If you want long lasting summer colour, strong growth, and flowers that withstand typical British weather, this is the one!

Top Tips
  • To ensure plenty of flowers, plant in a sunny position, sheltered from strong winds.
  • Prune back two or three buds in the late winter months or early spring to encourage larger flowers the following summer - if the shrub is left unpruned, it will continue to produce blooms, but they will often be smaller in diameter.
Care Information
  • Hibiscus grows well in average soil and once estabished requires very little care - withstanding periods of drought. It also tolerates summer heat and humidity.
  • Grow in a sheltered spot in full sun with a hummus-rich moist soil, keep well-watered as these plants don't like to dry out.
  • Happy in a large container as long as you keep it well-watered and protect the crown with a dry mulch through the winter months.
  • Trim any dead or damaged growth each year in mid spring and remove faded flowers.
  • Hibiscus flower on the current season's growth, so pruning encourages the to flower prolifically.
  • Hibiscus can be bare of leaves right up until May, so don't think that your plant has expired - keep it well watered and it will burst into life when ready!
