Description

Dark-Leaved Primroses With Jewel-Bright Blooms Bring Your Winter Garden Back To Life! Primrose 'Obsidian Mixed' is a real eye-catcher, combining velvety flowers with rich foliage colour.

Expect vivid purples, violets, rose shades, soft yellow and peach tones, all glowing beautifully against deep, moody leaves. This is a simple way to add instant contrast, colour and polish to pots, borders, window boxes and patio containers.

These hardy primroses flower from winter into early spring, just when outdoor spaces need a lift. They form tidy, compact mounds around 20cm high and wide, making them easy to place at the front of borders, along pathways, or grouped in containers near doors and patios.

Plus, they are fully hardy, helping your displays keep their charm through cooler months. The flowers also attract early pollinators when conditions allow.

Top Tips
Deadhead any faded flowers for extra growth.
Care Information
  • Give your garden ready plants a little attention on arrival - unpack them immediately, and either mist them or stand them in water for an hour - they may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they’ll quickly recover. If you can’t do this, they can sit in Mini Greenhouses for a week if upright and not too wet.
  • We recommend that you leave them to settle for a day somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
  • Make a hole in the compost with a dibber or your finger, then holding each plant by its root ball, place it into the hole and gently firm the compost around it.
  • Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry as they don’t like to be left in standing water.
  • Primroses enjoy moist, well-drained soil. Established plants can be planted out anytime unless the soil is waterlogged or frozen.
  • Dig a hole the same size as the plant’s root ball. Place the plant in position, firm down the soil and water.
  • To prolong flowering, remove spent flower heads and remove any yellow leaves.
  • Divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
