Product Information

‘Zepeti’ is a triumph of rose breeding from the House of Meilland in France, created to be incredibly resilient as well as beautiful.

This miniature rose has lush, dark green glossy foliage and dazzling, bright red semi-double flowers that are produced in clusters. The fragrant flowers are small at 5 cm (2 in) across but are intensely coloured, and ‘Zepeti’ is very free flowering, producing abundant blooms continuously from May until October.

‘Zepeti’ is exceptionally resistant to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and black spot and is also extremely tolerant of both summer heat and winter frosts. This makes it an incredibly robust rose that will always perform well. As a miniature rose, it is very well suited to growing in a pot, where it makes a stunning focal point, particularly because its leaves and flowers always look so immaculate. Planted in the garden, it also looks good growing amongst small shrubs and perennials.

Supplied as a freshly potted, professional quality plant in a 3L pot, growing to a height and spread of 60 cm (2 ft).

Top Tips

  • The roses can be kept in their pots throughout the winter provided they are kept well fed and watered, however ideally, they should planted out as soon as possible. Because plants are dormant throughout the winter, they do not produce any new roots until spring, so don't be alarmed if the compost falls away from the roots when you take them out of their pots.
  • They will already have been cut back so no further pruning will be required, apart from removing any tips that have died back.

Care Information

  • Grow in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade.
  • Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought-dry.
  • Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind.
  • Plant so that the graft union (the swollen area where the stem meets the roots) is at or just below soil level.
  • Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, so add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole if necessary.
  • Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.
  • Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.
  • For best results, feed roses in in late-March/April and again late July.
  • Provide good air circulation and remove fallen leaves and faded flowers to keep plants in tip-top condition.
  • In late winter or early spring, remove dead or damaged wood, then trim the rose back by a third to maintain its shape and encourage new growth.
  • When pruning, you would traditionally cut just above a leaf joint with a sloping cut away from the bud, however, this isn't necessary, and don’t worry about pruning too much - roses are very resilient and will grow back.
