Flowering from late spring to early autumn, the dramatic golden-yellow blooms are composed of five bracts rather than petals and can grow up to 6cm (2½in) across, making a striking contrast against the 3-lobed, thick, flannel-like leaves.
The glorious lemon-yellow flowers have a slight reddish tinge to the centre and fade to pale orange as they mature. They're freely produced too making a superb specimen plant for any garden.
