A healthy and deciduous hedge plant perfect for introducing structure and months of interest to any garden.
New green leaves erupt with deeply crinkled veins and ribbed edges from spring, before turning golden yellow in autumn.
Green catkins emerge at the tail end of spring to add extra depth to the plant, before becoming winged fruits in autumn, perfect for feeding small garden mammals and birds, such as finches and tits.
Hornbeam hedges bring a rich and healthy shape to the garden for a longer period than many other hedgerow varieties, so autumnal leaves in shades of golden-yellow to orange can be seen even when winter rolls around.
The very hardy and resilient Hornbeam can be grown in most soil types, while shaded and windy garden spots can also be tolerated. Hornbeam hedges grow at a rate of 20-40cm per year.
Supplied as one bare root hedge, 60-90cm tall, ready for planting.
