Description

Extraordinary dwarf raspberries that deliver delicious fruit in summer, remain beautifully compact, and don't have a single thorn in sight. Yes, really! Introducing Raspberry 'Lowberry Ruby Best', a breakthrough variety that's tailor-made for small spaces and container growing. And it's one of the easiest, tidiest soft fruit bushes you will find.

This little gem reaches just 60cm tall and grows into a neat, bushy plant with dense foliage that looks fantastic all through the season. Even when it's not in fruit, it earns its keep as a smart feature in pots or borders. But when the fruits arrive, that's when the magic really happens.

From June, you'll be picking dark red, medium-sized raspberries with a lovely sweet-sharp balance and a fresh, fruity aroma. Because it fruits on last year's growth, you'll get early-season crops without needing to fuss. The berries lean gently over the edge of the pot as they ripen, making them super easy to harvest and leaving this season's new shoots completely untouched.

It's totally thornless too, which means no scratches when you're picking. This is a big plus if you're gardening with kids or want to grow fruit right outside your kitchen door. After fruiting, simply cut out the old canes and thin the new ones to keep the plant open and productive. It's quick, satisfying, and leaves you set up for next year's harvest.

Supplied as an established plant in a 1 litre pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips

A great performer in pots, but this variety can also be planted directly into a garden bed, but make sure the soil is free-draining and not prone to waterlogging.

Care Information

When Your Plant Arrives

  • Your raspberry will arrive as an established plant in a 1 litre pot, ready to plant.
  • Unpack it straight away and give it a drink of water if the compost feels dry.
  • Stand it outside in a sheltered, sunny spot for a couple of days to let it acclimatise.
  • Choose a sunny, sheltered position for the best results. This variety is ideal for pots, so use a container that's at least 25-30cm in diameter with good drainage holes.
  • Fill it with quality multi-purpose compost, preferably mixed with some well-rotted organic matter if you have it.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and gently tease out any matted roots.
  • Plant it so the top of the rootball is level with the surface of the compost. Firm in and water thoroughly.

Ongoing Care

  • Keep the compost moist, especially during dry spells and while the plant is getting established.
  • In summer, pots may need watering daily, particularly when the fruit is developing.
  • Avoid letting the compost dry out completely.
  • A hardy variety. In colder regions or if grown in a pot, protect roots in winter by moving the container to a sheltered spot or wrapping it in fleece or bubble wrap.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
