Description

This Cottage Garden Devon Pinks Collection delivers everything gardeners love about traditional dianthus. Strong fragrance, rich colour and continuous summer flowers.

Each plant is compact, hardy and reliable, giving you a simple way to bring real cottage charm into any garden. The set includes six named varieties. Each adds something different, yet they sit together beautifully.

These are hardy perennials, and many keep foliage through winter. They stay neat and bushy, reaching a manageable size while producing a steady stream of scented blooms from June to October. Bees and butterflies visit regularly. They also make excellent cut flowers.

For gardeners wanting dependable fragrance, long flowering and traditional colour, this collection offers real value and strong performance in borders, pots and cottage-style plantings.

This collection contains six different varieties including:

  • 'Gran's Favourite' - carnation pink, clove-scented, lacy white flowers with raspberry picotee edges
  • 'Doris' - A very pretty pink variety, with darker pink to red centres to the petals
  • 'Houndspool Cheryl' - deep cherry pink, fringed petals
  • 'Diane' - clove-scented, double deep salmon-pink
  • 'Haytor' - pure white, fully double flowers
  • 'Valda Wyatt' - double pink blooms
Top Tips
Regular deadheading will ensure that your Devon Pinks flower right up to the first frosts.
Care Information
  • For most plug plant collections, the “mini Greenhouse” they are packed in will have a label on the outside, listing the individual varieties inside. We recommend writing your own labels out on receipt!
  • Give your plugs a little attention on arrival - unpack them immediately, and either mist them or stand them in water for an hour - they may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they’ll quickly recover.
  • If you can’t do this, they can sit in Mini Greenhouses for a week if upright and not too wet. We recommend that you leave them to settle for a day somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
  • When you're ready to pot on, use a good quality, multi-purpose compost, and fill 7-10cm pots.
  • Make a hole in the compost with a dibber or your finger, then holding each plug by its root ball, place it into the hole and gently firm the compost around it.
  • For great results, we recommend using our Windowsill Planters or 9cm pots in Shuttle Trays.
  • Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry as they don’t like to be left in standing water.
  • Grow on either on a bright windowsill or a greenhouse for 3-4 weeks before potting up into containers or into flower beds.
  • If planting directly into flower beds when all risk of frost has passed, prepare the ground well, removing weeds and digging in some compost or well-rotted manure if your soil is not already rich.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
