Product Information

Grow something a little bit different in your trailing display with the multi-layered blooms and evergreen foliage of Passiflora 'Lavender Lady'.

Cover walls, arches, and trellises with this ideal alternative to the 'Queen of Climbers', Clematis. Purplish blue petals are long-lasting and waxy to the touch, reflexing away from a central protruding filament with age.

Evergreen foliage is made up of lobed green leaves. 'Lavender Lady' will thrive in pots with a trellis or obelisk, returning year after year. Once fully established, this variety can turn hardy in some areas, but in colder areas grow against a south-facing wall or in large pots to be able to move it around to suit the season.

At the end of the flowering season, around autumn, ornamental orange fruits emerge for an extra layer of interest - however, these fruits are potentially harmful and should not be consumed.

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure that this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, ready to plant.

Care Information

Planting Advice for Passiflora:

  • Passiflora tend to bloom particularly well when their roots are restricted by a container or path side border.
  • When planting in a container, use John Innes No 3 potting compost, or any good quality compost.
  • Pot-grown shrubs can be planted at any time of the year as long as the soil is not waterlogged or frozen.
  • Water your potted plants well, then dig a hole a little deeper and three times the width of the provided nursery pot.
  • Add a soil conditioner such as well-rotted manure to the earth removed from the hole if necessary.
  • Remove the plants from their pots and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Place your selected plant in the hole at the same level of the pot.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed by backfilling and firm in the soil with your hand, avoiding the root ball.
  • Water well and mulch around the base of the plant with a collar, compost, gravel, bark etc.

Aftercare Advice:

  • Water well and continue to do so regularly across the first few months. With a robust and rapidly growing root system, your plants will establish rapidly.
  • Once planted, keep the area free of weeds, which will compete for nutrients.
  • Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plants after planting and annually thereafter.

Pruning Advice:

  • Little pruning is needed apart from removing any branches that are dead, damaged or diseased.
