If you are looking for some easy and hardy colour for brightening up the garden in late Winter - look no further. Daphnes are widely grown for thneir amazing flower displays in the depths of Winter, and this species, Daphne mezereum, is one of the most robust and easy to grow.
From it's bare stems of Autumn and early Winter, it erupts into a mass of deep rose-pink flowers that smother the stems from top to bottom, followed by deep red berries as Spring rolls forward. It will produce mid green leaves all Summer, til Autumn.
Grow in the garden soil (they dont like being in pots for long), but as they only reach 4ft x 3ft, they are a compact shrub even when mature, so perfect for all sizes of garden.
NOTE: Early in the season, this plant is sold fresh-potted, so is not rooted through 100%, having been lifted fresh from the fields in Winter.
