Planting Advice for Cymbidium

  • To flower well, the plants need a distinct temperature drop between day and night during mid to late summer.
  • Ensure good light levels all year round, especially in winter.
  • Plants can be kept outdoors from May to September although will need shade from midday sun.
  • Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions in order to prevent leaf scorch from cold temperatures or direct sun.

Aftercare Advice for your Pink Orchid

  • If you've a garden or patio, we advise that you stand the plants outside towards the end of May until the middle of September when the night temperatures start to drop.
  • Support developing flower spikes with a bamboo cane. Flowers generally last for six to eight weeks, then once the blooms have faded, they can be cut down to the base.
  • Cymbidium needs moderate watering during spring and summer, depending on the conditions. Water from above, making sure that excess water can drain away.
  • Move plants indoors during autumn and winter.

Pruning Advice for Cymbidium Orchid

  • When flowers have faded, the stem can be cut down to the base.
