An intriguing and slow growing evergreen shrub, that offers something a little different in the garden. Perhaps we should say 'ever-purple', as it is grown for it's deepest burgundy, almost black leaves, which provide a fabulous foil for brighter colours or golden foliage contrasts.
A tough and short growing little evergreen, it also makes an unusal low maintenance hedge. Each Spring it produces lime green new shoots, which darken over the season, and the following year are deep purple. Thus, in summer, you'll have a lovely two-tone contrast.
Grow in full sun or light shade, it can also be grown in pots.
