If you’re after something truly special, Acer ’Taylor’ is an absolute showstopper. This compact Japanese Maple has been bred to impress, and it does just that, with colour-changing leaves across the seasons.
So many of our customers agree that it’s a cracking little tree that doesn’t just sit quietly in the background, it brings a splash of colour wherever you plant it. Pots and borders? Either will benefit from a ‘Taylor’ tree.
Foliage starts off bright pink in spring, becoming green with cream edges as the season progresses, reaching a beautiful lime green in autumn.
We’re often asked for plants that bring impact without taking up too much space, and this is a corker. ’Taylor’ stays compact and manageable, without exceeding 2m tall in 10 years. It forms a tidy shape and looks magical against darker evergreens or gravel gardens. Try pairing it with ferns or hostas in a semi-shaded spot.
Plus, it’s not a delicate little plant, despite how it may look! It’s fully hardy and just needs shelter from strong winds and the harshest sun to keep those vibrant leaves looking their best. Like most acers, it likes slightly acidic, free-draining soil – nothing too fancy – and a little mulch in spring will keep it happy for years.
Supplied as an established plant, 50-70cm tall, in a 3 litre pot, ready to plant.
