What plants will I get?

They are supplied as 3 different varieties, all as established plants in 9cm pots. The varieties are as follows:

Japanese Anemone ‘Whirlwind’:

Japanese Anemone ‘Whirlwind produces masses of elegant white blooms with yellow centres. It is a winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. And rightly so, as it is a beautiful variety. With it’s striking white colour, it really does set off any strong colours in your garden. So if you have some strong coloured plants, grow your anemone whirlwind next to it to create a lovely contrast.

Japanese Anemone ‘Prince Heinrich’:

Prince Heimlich, another RHS favourite, comes in a vibrant rich pink colour. It slowly changes colour throughout the season, starting at more of a light purple and fading to pale pink over time, making perfect for adding continual interest. Unlike the ‘Whirlwind’ this plant will act a focus point on any space. So it is best planted where you want to draw someone’s eye. The RHS recommends this a top plant for pollinators, so if you want to bring beneficial insects to your garden, like bees, then this is the plant for you.

Japanese Anemone ‘Queen Charlotte’:

Lastly, ‘Queen Charlotte’, another Award of Garden Merit winner, provides pretty powder pink blooms. This stunning variety will light up your garden with breath-taking late displays, making it a brilliant addition to any border. Just like the other 2 Anemones mentioned, Queen Charlotte flowers later than most plants it is great for extending your blooming season.

As you can gather from the summary above, all 3 varieties in this collection have had merits from the RHS, the Oscars of the plant world, so you can plant these with immense confidence knowing they are excellent proven performers. And with the diverse range of colours on offer in this collection, you will get versatility too! From pure white, to rich pink and soft pink, all looking fabulous.

You can grow them together or you can grow them individually as little spot plants, it is up to you. They will grow to around 3 foot tall, including the highest flower. They will thrive in plant pots or in the ground, the choice is yours. How to plant Japanese Anemones

Before planting your Japanese Anemone Collection, it’s essential to prepare the soil properly. These plants prefer moist, fertile soil with a slightly acidic pH level. Amend the soil with organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure to improve drainage and provide essential nutrients. Dig a hole that is slightly larger than the root ball of your Japanese Anemone plants. Gently place the plant into the hole, ensuring that the crown (where the stems meet the roots) is level with the soil surface. Backfill the hole with soil, firming it gently around the roots to eliminate air pockets. Water thoroughly to settle the soil and promote root establishment.

How to care for Japanese Anemones

Japanese Anemones prefer consistently moist soil but not waterlogged conditions. Water deeply once or twice a week, providing enough moisture to reach the root zone. During periods of drought or high temperatures, increase the frequency of watering to keep the soil evenly moist. Adding Mulch around the plants can help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. To promote healthy growth and abundant blooms, fertilise your Japanese Anemone Collection in early spring. Japanese Anemones are relatively low-maintenance plants. In late Autumn or early spring, remove any dead or damaged stems and foliage to maintain a tidy appearance. If the plants become too crowded, divide them every three to four years in early spring. Dividing not only helps manage the size of the plants but also promotes healthier growth and enhances flowering.
