Sweet and delicious yields of cherries, year after year from your garden. Yes, it’s achievable with Cherry Stella! YouGarden TV presenter Shaun Ryan explains:
“If you were to grow only one fruit tree in your garden, I’m going to recommend Cherry Stella. This is an extraordinary tree. It’s got the RHS Award of Garden Merit. It’s perfect for pollinators as well, but this tree can produce up to five kilos of the most sweet, delicious cherry every single year.
“Stella Cherry is certainly the nation’s favourite. Now. It produces beautiful blossom in March and April. That’s followed by those delicious sweet cherries in roundabout July time. And if you are thinking, Shaun, I do not have room in my garden to grow a cherry tree, get this. It’s been very cleverly grafted on this root stock. It’s actually called a colt root stock. And what that does, it keeps the tree compact and small so it can only ever grow to roundabout 2.5m in height.
“That means you can pick all of those cherries yourself without having to get onto a cherry picker. Easy to grow so you can get in pots, by the way, with it being compact. So any of our Heavy Duty Pots would be superb for this. It likes a sunny position. And of course, like all soft fruit, do keep it well watered in the summertime, particularly, I should say.
“But for me, it’s what this delivers for many years, if not decades, sweet, delicious cherries every single year. It’s a heavy cropper. It produces beautiful blossom as well. And a tree that could grow, I’m gonna say in even the smallest of gardens.”
