Plant Of The Month – March

YouGarden’s plant of the month for March is Creeping Phlox subulata Collection.

Quite possibly one of the most colourful of the creeping phloxes you can grow. This dainty, evergreen perennial is a versatile solution for a colourful spring garden. Perfect for filling in gaps in your beds and borders or planting in drifts for a carpet of colour.

From April to May they will produce an abundance of 5-petalled star-shaped blooms with distinctive needle foliage. Spreading to approximately 60cm, it is great for rock gardens and for edging paths and borders. Also known as creeping moss phlox, you can grow it in your mixed borders in full sun as well as in all manner of containers – it really is a plant for every occasion.

As well as making an invaluable groundcover plant and weed suppressant, hardy carpet phlox is very easy to grow. A low, virtually no maintenance hardy plant, it needs very little in the way of aftercare. This makes it a perfect plant if you’re new to gardening or have little gardening time on your hands.

This collection is made up of 4 different varieties: ‘Candy Stripe’ – Pink with white stripes, ‘Emerald Cushion Blue’ – Pale lavender-blue, ‘McDaniels Cushion’ – Bright pink and ‘White Delight’ – Pure white.

Supplied as a collection of 12 Plug Plants, 3 of each variety, ready to grow on before planting out.

Top Tip
