Commonly known as boat orchids, Cymbidiums have highly decorative flower spikes and are one of the least demanding of the indoor orchids. Due to modern breeding, cymbidiums now come in a variety of colours and providing you meet a couple of easy, specific requirements, this delightful green variety will flower year after year.
Flower spikes start into growth in mid to late summer, when plants require good light and a distinct drop between day and night temperatures. This means that they are perfect to grow outside from May to September.
The ideal orchid for beginners and experts alike, Cymbidiums are the oldest known cultivated orchid, with evidence that they were grown in China 2500 years ago!
With its strappy, sword-shaped leaves and spikes of waxy, perfect blooms in a subtle shade of green (when in flower), this orchid makes the perfect gift for any home.
