Create your own white and blue garden paradise with this collection of spring-flowering bulbs inspired by the beautiful Greek island of Santorini, with its classic blue-roofed, whitewashed houses and Aegean backdrop.
This early flowering, low-growing range will look glorious in the front of your garden beds, borders and patio pots, or planted in drifts through grass or wooded areas, where they will easily naturalise and reward you with bigger and better displays each year. Plant these hardy perennials in a sunny or lightly shaded position in rich, well-drained soil. This pack of 135 hardy bulbs includes:
Anemone blanda x 50 bulbs (size 3/4) – A member of the buttercup family and a native of Turkey, the vibrant daisy-like flowers appear as if from nowhere in early spring, creating a carpet of colour through March and April. With flowers up to 3-4cm in width, their long, pretty petals and golden-yellow stamens create a stunning contrast against the distinctive dark green leaves. Blooming in pretty shades of violet-blue, pink, and white, it is easy to see why this variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Grows to 10cm height.
Muscari latifolium x 50 bulbs (size 5/6) – The striking, two-tone blue, cone-shaped flowers of this grape hyacinth will look stunning against their long, deep green leaves in early spring each year. Free-flowering, vigorous and very easy to grow, Muscari are best planted in naturalistic groups in borders or pots, or under trees to create a beautiful woodland feel. Grows to 15cm height.
Tulips ‘Concerto’ x 15 bulbs (size 10/11) – Large, fragrant, buttercream flowers with yellow bases and black centres make for an eye-catching display in April and May. Set amid attractive grey-green foliage, their exquisite colouring is a highlight of this collection. As well as being a graceful addition to your garden, this easy-to-grow, long-lasting, mid-height tulip makes an excellent cut flower. Grows to 30cm height.
Crocus Large-Flowered ‘White’ x 20 bulbs (size 7/8) – True to its name, this crocus is a true garden favourite with sizeable flowers of pure white and striking orange-yellow stigma and stamens.
