Product Information

Perfectly formed and one of those reliable favourites that are instantly recognised, garden pinks (Dianthus) are one of the hardest working plants that you can get.

Producing masses of fragrant ruffled flowers, dianthus pinks will bloom reliably all summer - often well into the winter months - filling your garden with vibrant colour and the delicate scent of sweet cloves on warm evenings.

Perfect for sunny beds or patio pots and containers, the richly-coloured, raspberry-ripple-patterned blooms are held on sturdy stems above neat cushions of slender, blue-green leaves, making pinks not only a fabulous garden 'doer' but also superb and long-lasting as cut flowers for you to bring in and enjoy indoors.

Dianthus are easy-to-grow, evergreen fully-hardy perennials, and we have picked six of the best pinks varieties to bring you a display of colour and fragrance to brighten your borders year after year. Many of these dianthus pinks are award winners and have been awarded the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM), so you can be assured that these plants will perform perfectly in your garden for fabulous floral results!

You will receive 6 plants in 12cm pots, ready to be planted straight into the garden or onto pots.

Cranmere Pool (AGM) - Double blooms with white petals and deep pink rings at the base. Lightly perfumed. H35cm

Diane (AGM) - Deep salmon blooms and a delicious clove scent. H30cm

Doris (AGM) - Fragrant, pale pink blooms and grey-green leaves. H40cm

Gran's Favourite (AGM) - one of the most popular varieties of pink, with semi-double blooms of white petals, heavily laced with reddish-purple

Houndspool Cheryl - Striking double, cherry-red flowers boasting lovely fringed petals. H30cm

Letitia Wyatt - Double, light pink flowers with a lovely fragrance. H25cm

Top Tips

Deadhead to prolong flowering. Make sure soil is well drained and avoid winter wet which can be harmful to the plant.

Care Information

  • Pinks can be planted out in spring when the soil is warming and can be planted directly into the ground around 38cm (15in) apart, or into a container.
  • When watering, avoid wetting the foliage to reduce the risk of mildew.
  • A light clip after flowering to remove the spent flowerheads will keep the plants compact and extend their life - cuttings can be used to propagate new plants.
