Product Information

A breakthrough in ornamental shrub breeding, Forsythia x intermedia 'Nimbus' has the same spectacular yellow flower displays in early spring as other varieties, but an a naturally compact, low maintenance form.

One of the smallest forsythias that we have, 'Nimbus' grows to just 75cm (30in) high x 1m (in) wide in 5-7 years. This compact form is perfect for Patio pots and smaller garden borders with all the flower power, and little of the space!

Grow Nimbus in sunny or lightly shade spots in any soils - from acidic to heavy clays, it is a very easy and very hardy and tolerant shrub - a 'good doer' as we like to call them!

After flowering, Forsythia x intermedia 'Nimbus' gets smothered in mid-green leaves which turn to orange and gold in autumn giving a delightful display and extending its season of interest.

Your plant is delivered fully established in a 2L pot, ready for planting out or potting up into the included 12in 'Callista' vintage rust-coloured planter.

Top Tips

For the best flowers, feed and water Forsythia 'Nimbus' plants regularly until fully established.

Care Information

  •  In late spring after flowering has finished, prune 'Nimbus' back by cutting back all flowered shoots to a healthy pair of leaves.
  • Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
  • Container grown plants will need an annual dressing with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser combined with regular watering
  • On established Forsythia plants, cut back up to a fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to encourage robust new growth and to improve flowering.
