Hawthorn Crataegus monogyna Hedging

  • Hawthorn is a versatile hedging plant which is fast-growing and thorny for security, but also a haven for bees, insects and birds from spring til winter.
  • Often called May blossom, the gorgeous, pollen-rich white flowers smother the bushes, attracting bees which help pollinate garden fruit crops too.
  • In Autumn, the spring blossom develops into deep red 'haws' or berries, feeding bids well into the winter.
  • Fast growing at 30-40cm per year, it can easily be trimmed hard to size - plant 3 or 4 per linear metre, trim in winter after berries.
  • Supplied as 1-1.2m tall bare root dormant plants, to plant October to April.
