An elegant purple form of our native cow parsley, Anthriscus sylvestris 'Ravenswing' has almost black, finely cut, ferny leaves in the first year, followed by frothy umbels of dainty white flowers in its second.
Also known as Queen’s Anne’s Lace, this dramatic variety is a biennial or a short-lived perennial that comes true from seed and it self seeds freely so you're never without a supply of fresh plants.
Seen as a definite trend at the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where re-wilding (a soft and natural planting style) was a favourite technique among the garden designs.
Easy to grow in sun or partial shade, Anthriscus is fully hardy and perfect for growing in a large informal cottage garden scheme, or in meadow and prairie planting where it's lacy heads and feathery leaves continue in succession for several weeks in early summer.
Remove the spent flower heads to promote leaf growth and prevent self seeding - why not cut some blooms for your home where they'll make a dramatic cut flower.
Supplied as a collection of 6 jumbo plug plants.
