This is a popular perennial geranium that will make you wonder what you ever did before you discovered it! An absolutely invaluable groundcover plant for your garden, it's quite happy to grow where others fear to set down roots - rewarding you with pretty lilac-pink flowers and attractive, scented leaves which colour up a rusty green in autumn.
In spring, 'Ingwersen's Variety' get the season off to a great start with a soft mound of downy new leaves which are quickly followed by its pale flowers - often with slightly darker veining - as it begins to fill gaps and spread itself gently though the border.
Besides its flowers, the soft leaves of geranium macrorrhizum are an attractive feature in their own right, being very fragrant and lobed, which means this variety is gorgeous even when not in flower and you'll not be able to resist running your hands over it.
Growing to around 40cm high, this is a medium sized variety, and one of those 'well behaved' groundcover plants - filling gaps and growing where little else will thrive, even tolerating dry shade - and an absolutely perfect partner for clematis where it will cover a straggly, bare base.
‘Ingwersen’s variety will grow in any moderately fertile soil as long as it's not waterlogged, and it’s happy in full sun or any type of shade, colonising the ground with rooting stems in cool conditions.
Supplied and 12 plug plants, ready to pot up and grow on or plant straight out.
