Product Information

Petunia 'Purple Joy' is dramatically different - seeing its blooms is like looking into the clear night sky.

It produces masses of velvety purple-blue flowers with a host of pure white flecks and spots - just like gazing into a far-away galaxy - quite unique amongst any flower we have ever seen. When the plant is flowering in it's full glory through summer these a truly reminiscent of the constellations viewed above in the night.

'Purple Joy' forms a mound of gently trailing stems which is perfect for all baskets and patio planters. Blooming from May right to the end of summer. Deadhead frequently to keep the flowers coming. Such a striking and unusual plant!

Supplied as 12 x plug plants, ready to grow on before planting out.

Care Information

  • Unpack plugs immediately, and stand them in water for an hour.
  • Plugs may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post but they’ll quickly recover. Put them somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
  • When potting on, handle plugs carefully. Pot on before planting out when there is no longer a danger of frost.
  • Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry. They don’t like to be left in standing water.
  • Plant approx. 20cm (8”) apart to allow them room to grow. Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.
  • Deadhead when flowers fade to encourage more flowers.
