Product Description

A breakthrough in tomato breeding, 'Gigantomo'® F1 Hybrid is the largest currently available commercially and produces enormous fruits which can each weigh up to 1.3kg (3lbs) and measure 20cm (10') across.

Exceptional in that this is also a tasty tomato despite its humungous size, Gigantomo also has the disease resistance of modern cultivars, making it less likely to suffer a check in growth and size.

Best grown in the greenhouse to give sufficient time for the mega-fruits to ripen, it will also grow in a sheltered, sunny spot outdoors. Each cordon can produce more than 10 massive tomatoes, and with fruits this big, you'll need to provide support for the plants.

Plants will need staking to support the huge fruits and will grow to approx 200cm (79in). Spread: 50cm (20'). Supplied as 3 x plants in 9cm pots.

Plant Information

Top Tips

To get bigger tomatoes, remember the following:
The weight of fruit per plant tends to remain constant, so the more ruthless you are with thinning, the larger the fruit you'll end up with.

Care Guide

Water plants regularly.
Tomatoes should be grown in reliably moist soil.
Feed plants regularly with a high potash plant food once the first truss of fruit has formed.
Stake well and as plants grow continue to tie the main stem to the cane support.
Removing any side shoots that develop between the main stem and the leaf stems.
When the plant has produced 6 or 7 trusses, 'stop' it by pinching out the top of the main stem.
Tomatoes can be harvested as they ripen from July to September.
